.JACK O’MALLEY WINS. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, -March 8. At th<* Sydney Stadium on Saturday night, before a large crowd of spectators. .Jack O’Malley, 12. 0, who is well known to West Coasters as Thomas Bissell, gained the decision over the famed Australian, George Cook. 13. <, in a fifteen rounds professional contest. The bout, up till the seventh round, was a fairly even one. with the points slightly in favour of Cook, who, however began to tire noticeably from then onwards. On occasions up to the /seventh round (tooit find O'M-iley Staggering. There, was mot a great deal of thrilling combat until nearing the conclusion of the fourteenth round, when O’Malley showed up conspicuously. In the final round O’Malley scored freely with left and right hooks to the face, and body blows. Cook resorted to hanging on tactics. With a rally of left and right uppercuts, O'Malley had Cook in trouble at the final gong, the referee having to irequontly separate the pair. Cook was hanging on in a way that suggested he had tired badly. O’Malley was all the while after his man. O’Malley was crowned tin* winner amidst wiki cheering and applause. Cook showed the greater experience, but O’Malley was the stronger of the pair.
