BLIND GIRL TYPISTE. (United Prßai Association •By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, March 6. The first blind girl to be employed in a Government office is Violet Harper. aged twenty of Beckenham. She was appointed shorthand typist© at the office of works at Whitehall. She was educated by the National Institute for the blind which presented her with a Braille shorthand machine, upon which she is able to write at a speed exceeding one hundred words per minute, after which her notes are transcribed on an ordinary typewriter.

The Governor of Mauritius has tele graphed to the Secretary for the Colonies, advising that a severe cyclom passed over the island on March 5. Heavy damage to buildings and loss of sugar crops is feared. It ip unknown yet whether there was much loss of life. Very high winds still prevail and telegraph wires are cut, and com munication by road is very difficult. PRINCES IN ARGENTINE. BUENOS AIRES, March 6. The British Princes informally inspected the air grounds at the British Trade Exposition, which the Prince of AY ales will open on March 14th. The police guard were unable to keep crowds of eager workmen away from the party. The Princes also visited the San Marlin Military , College.
