A message from the Discovery sent on March 5 says:— I The ship failed to obtain further coal and is returning to Australia. The ship’s position is now latitude 51.20 degrees, longitude 101 degrees. On February 19, following the final landing oil Al.aeßoborston Land, the weather held good, hut. as the coal reserves were very low lurther extension of the programme along the Antarctic coast was considered unreasonable. In any case to reach Australia, the Discovery will have to rely principally on sails. FLOOD DANGER PASSED. SYDNEY, March 9. The weather has cleared and tlu* North Coast- Hood danger is passed.
