Time 1.29 4-5. WIN FOR MINTAGE. SYDNEY, .March 8. At Hawkeshury races yesterday, the Clarendon Handicap was won by the former New Zealander Mintage. The platings were;—Mintage 1; Firblog 2; Gi'eenmnntle 3. Nine started, including Traymobile. Won by half a lengths. Time 1.43$ PHAR LAP BEATEN. MELBOURNE, March 8. The weather was line for the Flemiugton races, and there was a fair attendance. There was a stirring contest in the C. M. Lloyd Stakes. Waterline looked as if beaten at the distance, but finished gamely under punishment. Fie had a wonderful ovation. This is Waterline’s fifth win in Australia. The New Zealand-bred colt Autopay ltkl all the way in the Ascot Yale Stakes. This is his third success this season. Carry On outstayed the opposition in the Australian Cup. He is trained by Price, .who also won with Killarney. The rider, Duncan, won the Australian Cup previously on Accarak. The placed horses, White Nose and St. Mary, made good efforts. Glare ran poorly and was always near the rear. 1 Golden Arrow headed Brazen Face in the last few strides in the Elms Handicap. He is son of the dual Caulfield Cup winner, Whittier. Leonard Stakes:—Killarney 1;. Mollison 2; Anchor 3. Won by 3 of a length. Time 1.133. Lloyd Stakes:—Waterline 1; Phar Lap 2: Temoin 3. Won by a neck. Time 1.38.
