COMPULSORY REGISTER WANTED. AUCKLAND, March 3. To discuss the present economic situation and to try to find some suggestions which may assist in solving some of the difficulties which have arisen as . a result, was the reason fo>a special meeting of the Auckland branch Of the National Council of Womeib The suggestion Was made that members of tlffi etmlfcil ’ should take into theii- homes ail unemployed girl 'or woman through th? winter and pay a more or less nominal wage. A committee could be formed to protect the interests of the girls or the employers. It was decided to form a committee to organise a sell "mo for compiling a register for unemployed girls and women. It was also decided to urge the Government to make a compulsoriregister of women and girls out of work.
