CYCLISTS AWARDED DAMAGES

SEQUEL TO COLLISION. CHRISTCHURCH, March 4. In December last a motor-car drived by Arthur Joseph Derbidge, collided with another car and then knocked down a bicycle ridden by Robert Alfred Smith, who was carrying on the bar Thelma Grace Brown. Smith and Miss Brown each took action against both the car drivers concerned, alleging negligence on the part of both or one of them, and claiming damages. Both cases were heard before M,r E. D. Mosley S.M. in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon. The driver of the other ear consented to judgment on each claim but Derbidge ‘defended the action.

Mr J. D. Hutchinson appeared for both plaintiffs and Mr F. AV. Johnston represented Derbidge. Judgment was given for Smith for £ll and costs totalling £5 9s, and for Miss Brown for £6 5s and costs £2 13s.
