The Rangitikei Racing Chub's annual meeting opened to-day in good weather with a good attendance. The totalisator handled £U,033 10s as compared with £13,147 for the first day last year, when there were eight races instead of seven. The weather was line and there was a satisfactory attendance to-day for the Klemington races. Homo Made was last early, but outstayed the opposition in the hurdles, and won nicely. Blast, Romeo and Gortitude fell.

Semitist was third early and won the Carmichael Stakes easily. He also won at Elomington on New Year's Day. Mvarill as last at the half mile, hut won the Bourke Handicap first division brilliantly. Its trainer, P. Foster, also litis King Aura.

Tim stakes values were: King’s Plate, £700; Bourke Handicap divisions, 1300 each ; other events £350 each. Result s :

Waterline made a brilliant effort in the second division of the Bourke Handicap. It cost its owner three tlion--,and guineas in New Zealand last season. If has won four races here. The trainer. Skirving, won the Bourke Handicap with Imputation in 1923.

Nauru tried to lead throughout iu the Steeples, hot tired. and Good Whisky finished well. The winner’s trainer, Quinlan, lias Mystic Peak. Pliar Lap had no trouble in recording his fourteenth successive victory in the King’s Plate. He also won this events last year. His stake winnings now total £51,132.
