GRAF ZEPPELIN

fUnited Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright, j

(Received this day at 12.25. p.m.) NEW YORK. March 4.

The Graf Zeppelin will mak,.> a five day Poiar exploration expedition in July if Hugo Eckener succeeds in his plans to finance the project.

He stated on arrival to-day bv the Europa with his daughter. Lotte, that he was confident the trip would not lack backing.

It was planned to fly via Leningrad over Franz Jose Hand. St. Nicholas Land. Eight or nine scientists would be aboard.

‘There is a- possibility we may discover many small islands”, lie said. “We also want to observe the reaction of the airship to Arctic weather. The trip will require no preparation other than arrangements for heating the cabins.”

“Captain Eckener said the plane for the new giant ship is being built in Germany and had been altc ,-d on using a year’s delay. The RIOT disaster convinced me it is advisable to use nothing but helium gas in the future. 'Die change from hydrogen gas in the new ship necessitates it being about twenty per cent larger.”
