Air MacDonald told the Labourites the amendment was quite unacceptable. Air Haday on behalf of Trades Union Convention recommended dropping the Bill. Later, Dr. Jowitt at the Standing Committee moved the withdrawal of the Bill, declaring the amendment made the Union position more difficult tlitlt it htul boon for half a century. Air Kingsley Wood, expressed the opinion the withdrawal was really due to the 'Trades Union Convention, because it saw the amendment effectually took away the use of the general strike. Air Burgen described Dr. Jowitt’s reason for the withdrawal as a mockery and a sham. The Liberal’s constructive amendment bad not been considered on its merits. The withdrawal of the motion was carried without a division.
