RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) MONDAY, MARCH 2nd. Mr Denis Sheard, late of the professional stage will give a recital of four songs of varied types at 2YA this evening. Miss Gwladvs Edwardes and .Miss Hilda Chudley, two very popular singers, will he heard in solo and duets. Bass solos will be contributed by Mr Claude O’Hagen. Featured also on the programme will be Mr Clement May, the well-known elocutionist and entertainer, who will give four recitations ranging from humorous to dramatic. The instrumental portion of the musical programme will be of outstanding merit. It wifi be provided by Mr Claude Tanner (’cellist), Mr Gordon Short (pianist) and the Orchostrina, under Signor A. P. Truda.

fIYA will broadcast an open-air concert, to he given by Derry’s Military Band (under Mr J. Scott) and the following 3YA artists: Messrs Olliver Koote, W. H. Inskster and W. J. Richards. The programme will be of a very popular nature. A new combination in the entertainment line—''The Radiettes”—who will appear before the 4YA miscrophone In song, dance and patter on Monday evening, will present a very cheerful and original fifteen minute entertainment. Mr H. P. Desmoulins, deputyconductor of five Dunedin Choral Society, will present three baritone solos: “How’s My Boy-'”' “Little Elman” and “Border Ballad.” The instrumental sid., of this programme will be very well entered for indeed. An entirely new combination, Will Smith’s Kapai Band is apeparing. This band features old-time melodies. On this occasion, it will make a speciality of eai-'V ballroom dances. Silent day at IYA.

TUESDAY, MARCH 3rd. The whole of lYA’s concert session this evening will be occupied by tiie presentation of the play “Joan of Arc” by The Auckland Comedy Players under the direction of Mr J. F. Montngie. A .light concert programme will be uroudcast from 2YA. Miscellaneous snugs will bo sung by .Mrs Isabel Hollands (soprano,), Mr George Neel (baritone). Humorous items will be given by Miss Zena Jupp and Mr Errol Muir. The Kalima Trio will present a number of Hawaiian melodies. Mr ... W. Probert will play “William Tell fantasia” as a xylophone solo with or(<hc.sxn*l accompaniment. A bright programme concluding with the latest dance novelties, will be provided by Salon Orchestra.

A mid-day session will be observed by 3YA when Christchurch's civic reception to Lord and Lady Baden-Pow-ell will he broadcast. A new 4YA contralto, Miss Alison T’yrie, will be beard this evening. She lias a rich voice and her phrasing is exceptionally fine. Two other new vocalists are also on the same programme, Misses N. and K. Desmoulins They will sing two beautiful numbers—- “ Friendship” by the Soldier-poet, Sir Philip Sydney, and Tosti’s “Venetian Song.” Another vocalist on the programme will be M.r Dudley Poole. The instrumental portion of the concertwill he provided by the Otago Regimental Band.
