BOXING
DONOVAN V. BLAY. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, March 1. The return boxing bout between T. Donovan, of Wnitara (9.2), and B. Blav, of Victoria (9.2), was held at the. open air stadium at Western Park on Saturday night, in fine wc-Thor. There was a crowd of 4000. The contest resulted in a draw.
'Hie fight was marred by too much wrestling, both, boxers offending in this respect, they sometimes appearing to lose their heads. Donovan was the worst offender. Through persistently hanging on, he was frequently cautioned by Referee Maxwell, or otherwise Donovan might have secured theverdict.
Donovan, who was sent down in the fourth round for a. count of eight, by a left upper-cut to the solar plexus, made a great recovery, and thereafter lie was doing more than bolding bis own.
