WONDERFUL DISPLAY AT DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, February 25. A the Dunedin Horticultural Society’s jubilee show which was opened to-day the Loder Cup for the best collection of New Zealand native plants was won by H. Rennet,t, Broadacres. Dunedin. This display also won tbe Challenge Cup for the most meritorious exhibit in the show. The collection of native plants, all growing specimens, was a remarkable one, approximately 700 exhibits oT the various North and South Island species being staged. Outlying islands were also well represented. All the plants shown were well grown. Clemisias (mountain daisies) were the most outstanding class. Every species (50) described by C’heesman in the manual of New Zealand Flora was represented as well as more than twenty others as yet unnamed. Stilhoearpas, anistomes, rare veronicas, olearias from the Auckland, CampbeTT, and Chatham Islands, besides the most interesting species from the mainland were included in the collection. The judges, Mr H. L. Dartou. F.R.H.S. (Christchurch), Air .lames Spoden (Gore) and l)r Holloway (Dunedin) describe it as a valuable, interesting and wonderful display and a revelation to tin* record attendance of visitors to the show.
