President Hoover vetoed the Veterans Loan Bill returning the measure to Congress with a spirited message in which lie pronounced it as “unwise from the standpoint of the war veterans themselves and unwise from the standpoint of tile peopH.” , The President occasion to answer the contention that a billion dollars would he made available for ex-servicemen which would revive national prosperity. He declared it unsound to try to aid general business by borrowing money from some people to give funds to those in need. !!■ pointed out that the Government had already spent five billion dollars for veterans since the war.
