Macliie, acting on behalf of the Soviet, to arrange the sale of ten million dollars worth of Canadian farm machinery to Russia in exchange for four million dollars worth of Russian coal, and the balance in gold. Coal producers of Nova Scotia, Alberta and British Columbia declare the importing of co a i would ruin the already depressed industry. Retailers of Ontario have already sent a protest to the Government. Saskatchewan farmers see in tbo acquirement of more farm machinery by Russia an indication of still greater Russian wheat producing, and declare the proposal should only be' considered in the light of securing an agreement with Russia that the Soveit- will not dump wheat They also suggest a fixed price. A report from Saskatoon states a convention of Saskatchewan united farmers representing a membership of twenty-seven thousand, adopted a platform of community ownership of land and co-operative production for use. rather than profit, and regulation forbidding political alliances was abolished.
