Lying in state at Scot’s Church, Melbourne,, .the ,body, .of Dame Melba yrne viewed . by of people. The service began at one o’clock, • and lasted-, an- hour. It.was fully choral, and was conducted by Dr. W. Borland, Moderator of the- Presbyterian Church of Victoria. Among those present were . representatives .of the Federal teoveriinieiit,' the- State Government, and, the Consuls, musical societies, and leading public men. Mr O. I/. Firth, New Zealand Government Agent, was also present. The oaken casket rested on a dias at the side of the pulpit and was almost hidden by magnificent wreaths. Ten thousand |>eople gathered outside, the .church to watch the funeral move' away, 'The interment was in the family vault at Lilydalc Cemetery.
