At IYA this evening, the Lalome Quartet, a combination of Islanders who recently toured Australia under engagement to the Union Theatres, will sing Polynesian melodies. Also on the programme will be Dfi.se Adele Taylor Miss Phyllis Gribbon, the Two Maes and Miss Dorothea Ryan, novelty pianiste. The Band of the Wellington Division of the. Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve will provide a programme for 2YA. Three marches, “Knellar Hall,” “Great Little Army' and “Powerful’’ will he pla'-ed, Use the wait/,, “Moonlight’ - and selections from “H.M.S. Pinafore” and ’The. Pirates of Penzance.” ‘ Vlas Those Chimes'’ will be presented as a cornet solo. Bourn tile songs byMrs M. Liglitbod.v, baritone solos bv Mr David Anderson, guitar duets by Messrs Bcrtliold and Bent and Mr Jack Stand >n in popuiar songs at the piano, wd" add to a programme of much variety The evening’s programme from 3YA will be entirely Welsh The evening’s entertainment will be introuuee.l by a recorded lecture by Si r Waiforj Davies entitled “Tunes Built in Wales.” In the presenting of the programme, accompaniments will be played by Mr H. G. Glayshor on his Welsh harp Flute solos will Ik* contributed by Mr A. E. Hutton and selections will he played by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. The vocalists for the evening will bo Miss Frances Hnmerton, Miss Millicent Jennings, Mr Russell Sumner and Mr T. D. Williams. Silent day at 4YA. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27th. Mr Simon Philipoff, the Russian musician who has been touring the world with his balalaika, in the playing of which he is such an adept will give a recital of three numbers as his contribution to lYA’s programme this evening. Miss Kay Christie’s contralto songs will be of a popular tvpe. Mr H. Warburton will contribute baritone solos. Foxtrots and waltzes will be played bv the Zealandia Novelty Instrumental Quartet, and the popular Asquiths will provide a twenty minute drawing-room entertainment. Wellington’s civic reception to Lord and Lady Baden-Powell, which is to take place in the Wellington Town Hail this evening, will ho broadcast by 2YA. The Dulcet Quartet (Mrs W. B. Harris, Miss Nellie Lowe, Mr H. J. Francis anil Dir A. G. Thompson), Dfiss Maisie Ottev fa clever novelty pianiste) the Studio Octet and Mr Te \ri Pitama lecturer, will provide SYA’s programme. A very bright programme will he provided by the Studio Octet. Dir Pitama will sneak on “The Evolution and development of Dlaori Music.’’ 4YA has an exceptional entertainment for this evening. A concert programme of sea songs will be followed hv the presentation of the stirring sea story “Galapagos,’’ to he produced under the direction of DTaior Dampen. To-morrow afternoon 4YA will broadcast a description of the N.Z. Amateur Athletic Championships.
