THE NEW REGULATIONS. [by Telegraph, Per Presß Association.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 25. Acting on the recommendation of the Building Regulations Committee the Prime Minister lias called for the services of two qualified engineers form the Public Works Department, to be made available at once to' assist the local authorities in Napier and Hms tings to cope with the immediate problem of reconstruction. The local authorities urgently require expert assistance to enable the decision to be reached immediately indicating which buildings must be completely demolished, and which may be passed as sufficiently safe to allow reconstruction to be carried out. The Building Regulations Committee hs already engaged in the preparation of emergency regulations to be submitted to Parliament during the coming session , the Prime Minister stated this ovenning. It is intended however that the Committee should then continue its work in the preparation of a more complete set of regulations toi inclusion in the building by-laws to l>e applied throughout the Dominion.” 11l response to representations b> the profession that there were not sufficient architects on the Building Regulations Committee, the Government has appointed MY W.
