RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25th. Mr Reg. Morgan and his Orchestra will provide the instrumental portion of what will be a popular concert. A wide selection of items will he presented, including fox trots, and a number entitled ‘‘Old Time Waltz Memories.’’ The vocal items will be provided by Miss Patricia McLeod (lyric soprano) Miss Molly Atkinson (mezzo-soprano) and Mr D. R. Jackson (baritone). A lecture-recital by Mr Karl Atkinson will be on "‘Vienna—the City ol Music.” Instrumental solo items will be played by Miss Ida Lockwood (violiniste), Mr C. Hoffman (saxophone' and Mr W. Bright (trumpeter). The fourth of the series of International programmes will be presented by 2YA. Dr Guy H. Scholefielcl, 0.8. E., will give a talk. A popular concert will be broadcast by 3YA. It will be contributed by Miss Augusta Painter (soprano), Mrs C. J. Stow (mezzo-contralto), Air W J. Rischlnger (tenor), the Syncopators (piano and violin), Air Harold Beck (’cellist), the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio and The Afascots, a clever duo who will present the first part of a serial sketch entitled “Rent Free.’’ Miss Cicely Audibert (soprano) wil 1 give her third Dunedin recital. Aliss Helen E. Roy, Mr E. AV. Robbins and Mr Noel H. North are also vocalists on the programme. The instrumental trio is to present selections from Afen delssohn, Widor and Schubert, whilst the Trio pianist. Air Max Scherek, is playing Chopin’s “Ballade in A Flat.” The IYA, 2YA and 3YA Home Science Talk, for to-morrow afternoon, prepared by the Home Science Extension Department of Otago University, will be “Fruit Preserving.” THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 26th. At IYA this evening, the Lalorne Quartet, a combination of Islanders who recently toured Australia under oogacomeut to the Union Theatres, will sing Polynesian melodies. Also on the programme will be Aliss Adeh Taylor Aliss Phyllis Gribbon, the Two Al’acs and Aliss Dorothea Ryan, novelty pianist?. The Band of the Wellington Division of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve will provide a programme for 2YA. Three marches, “Knellar Hall.” "Grea Little Army” and “Powerful’’ will he plaved, also the waltz, “Moonlight” and selections from “H.AI.S. Pinafore’’ and “The Pirates of Penzance.” 1 \ias Those Chimes - ’ will be presented as a cornet solo. Soumette songs by Mrs AI. Lightbody, baritone solos bv Air David Anderson, guitar duets by Messrs Bcrtkold and Bent and Air Jack Ptiind'ir. in popular songs at the piano, wd‘ add to a programme of much variety. The evening’s programme fiom TV A will he entirely Welsh The evening’s entertainment will be introduced by a recorded lecture by Sir WalfoiVl Davies entitled “Tunes Built- in Wales.” In the presenting of the programme, accompaniments will be played by Air H. G. Glaysiier on bis Welsh harp Flute solos will be contributed by Mr A. E. Hutton and selections will be played By the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. The vocalists for the evening will be Aliss Frances Hamerton, Aliss Millicent Jennings, Afr Russell Sumner and Mr T. D. Williams. Silent day at 4YA.
