They are :—Alex Williams, 02. fractured skull; Arthur Harman, 51. fractured skull ; and William Haw, injuries to the back.

OPTIGTANS ’CONFERENCE
WELLINGTON, February 24
The annual conference of the Institute of Opticians Ims opened, about thirty delegates being present from all parts of the Dominion, to whom a welcome was extended by the Mayor. The presidential address was delivered by Hr E. Sargent.
TRANSFER OF COLLEGE TEACHERS. W F/L LING TON, February 25. The following teachers from Napier Technical College have been transferred to other Colleges in various parts of tlie Dominion—C. H. E. Contending that under tlie existing conditions, the work of the local unemployment committees was hampered bv lack of finance, and tbe opportunity to exhibit initiative, Auckland unemployment Committee (of which Sir C. Richardson is chairman), Ims resigned. General Richardson said the committee had even been told they must pay out of their own pockets the cost of advertising. It realised the difficulty of the Unemployment Board’s task and wished to help it. hut was unable to do so as a (-0111111 it tee under such conditions.
SOLICITOR CHARGED. TEKUITI, Februnry 2.3. Athol Fielding Howartli. formerly n solicitor practising at Tekuiti was charged in the local Court this morning with theft of £2OO, the property of Thomas Smith. He was remanded on the application, of Detective Thompson. Bail was allowed. It was stated that several other charges are pending. drunken DRIVER. W AlllO A, February 23. A car capsized through colliding with a telegraph pole. The vehicle was .slightly damaged, but two occupants were uninjured. At the police court M. Tapene was fined £lO for being intoxicated in charge of a car and driving without a peense. E. Gardiner was also fined £5 for drunkenness. A HOUSE BURNT. W AIR-0 A. February 23. At an early hour tliis morning a house owned by J. Hague and occupied by L. Saba was destroyed by fire, together with the contents. Nothing’ was saved. The brigade prevented adjoining dwellings from catching, by Dumping water from the river close by. the Borough supply being still out of action. A SERIOUS CHARGE. CHRISTCHURCH. Roland Charles Leslie Sanders a civil servant, was to-day committed to the Supreme Court, for trial on a charge of negligently driving a motorcycle. thereby causing the death of John Henry Horatio Nelson.
