The City is in the grip of a smallpox epidemic, which began on 4th. January and to Saturday bad caused IG7 deaths. Thirty thousand vaccinations have been undertaken weekly by Government doctors alone, besides thousands of private practitioners. The worst of the epidemic is expected, three weeks hence.
