JIM CARLTON. REFUSES TO JOIN PROS. HIS VIEW ON TRACKS. (By Telegraph.—Per Press Associat ion) WFLLINGTON, February 23. With regard to a report by cablegram that a Melbourne sports promotor. will make a strong hid to induce Jim Carlton, the Sydney sprinter now here, to turn professional. the Australian champion stated to-day that, he bail received offers previously to leave the ranks of the amateurs, some of them being very tempting, lie said he had no desire to aeeept them, and lie had no intention of accepting I lie latest one if it were made to him.
