Mrs J. Smith and. family insert a notice of thanks in this issue. After the swimming sports on Thursday, a dance will be held in All Saints Hall, music being supplied by the Melody Orchestra. The Gazette states that acute primary pneumonia has been deleted from the list of notifiable infectious diseases. Mrs Leslie Greener whose death is reported in to-day’s cable from Aiexanuria, as the result of a fall from ft window, was a daughter (Rona) of Mr H. D. Haszard, a former Commissioner of Crown Lands at Hokitika, In her school days the deceased lady resided at Hokitika aud attended Hokitika District High School, during her parents residence here. It is an offence, under Section 66 of the Fisheries Act, 1908, to fail to make a return of fish caught by commercial fishermen. The object of the returns states the Gazette, is to obtain reliable and complete information as to the condition of fisheries. The information is absolutely confidential and will not lie divulged to anyone outside the fisheries staff of the Marine Department, nor will it be published except in the form of general statistics.
