SANDERS CEP. (J)y Telegraph —Per Press Association) DC NED IN. February 18. The second race for the Sanders Memorial Cup was sailed on Otago Harbour this afternoon in a strong north-east wind and a fairly heavy sea. The competing boats sailed lour times over a triangular course. 'I he race resulted in the Wellington boat, Hetty, registering its second win by Out ins ssocs. The- Auckland boat, Avalon, fouled a weather mark in the fivst round, and retired. Tliis robbed the race of interest, as there bad been a close and exciting race between the Wellington and Auckland boats. There were many thrilling incidents when the boats were running before the wind, and several narrow escapes from capsizing. The sailing times were:—Betty: Ihr 51mins 25secs. Colleen : Ihr 53mins BOsecs. Bona: 2hrs 30secs. Eileen: 2hrs -Imins -lOsecs.
