RADIO PROGRAMME

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18th IYA will this evening be broadcast ing .a description of the Civic Recepi ion to be accorded Lord and Lad; Baden Powell. The third ofl the 2YA overseas pro grammes will be presented this even ing. The talk on an international topic will be given by Mr Chas. E. WheelerMuch variety will be introduced into 3YA’s programme. Miss .-vddu ■Campbell (soprano), Mrs N. Binghan Puchley (mezzo-contralto), Mr J. H Williams (tenor) and Mr ,S. Armstrong (baritone) will be singing. Harp solo; will be provided by Mr H. Glaysher and clarinet solos by Mr E. Withers, while violin solos will lie contributed by Miss Irene Morris, and various selections by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. A,t 4YA, Mr L. M. Cachemaille will sing songs by Sullivan, Russell and Schubert. Miss Evelyn Shepard (so prano) will sing an exceptionally fine song cycle by Watkins, entitled “Songs of the Season” depicting Spring, Sum mer, Autumn and Winter. Miss D. Allan (contralto) will sing Liza Lehmann’s “Golden Slumbers Kiss Your Eyes.” 4YA Studio Trio under the direction of Mr Max Rcborek will ore vide all the instrumental music on thA programme. Mr .T. E. Device Ooivi" will sing songs by Roger Quilter, Lehmann. and Evans. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 19th IYA will present a programme of the popular type this evening. Soprano solos will be contributed by Miss Isabel Hollands, a visiting 2YA artiste. Mr AVill Harris, a very popular Auckland tenor, is making his first appearance at IYA and Miss Maida G. Davidson will also l>e beard in a number ol light solof?. Novelty piano items will be given by Miss Cherry Anderson while of particular interest in the Orchestral Octet’s pregramme is the suite, “The Ballet of the Flowers” by Hadley.
The Miramar Silver Band, und’r the conductorship of Mr R. A. Sutherland, will give a concert at 21 r A Studio. The vocal portion of the programme will be in the hands of Miss Ena .Rapley and Mr Edwin Dennis, •who will be heard in solos and duets. Mr Claude Mass (baritone) will sing “Corisande,” “Sometimes in Summer,’,’ “A Maori Slumber Song” and “Pokare Kare.” Included in this programme will he an instrumental trio consisting of Messrs Norman Izett (piano), Mr Will McKeon (violin) and Sam McLean (’cello). For 3YA Mr Arthur Lilly, A.R.C.0., the well known Christchurch Musician, has arranged a special programme called “Flowers and Music.” Each phase will be introduced by a few remarks from Mr Lilly and in the presentation of the Various songs he will be assisted by Mrs Grace Empson, MBs Augusta Painter, Miss Sylvia Marshall, Mr A. Kinvig, Master Ralph Lilly, Mr Gregory Russell, Mr Alfred Bunz (piano) and the choir of the Holy Trinity Church, Avon,side. The instrumental portion of the programme will be provided by the Studio Octet. Silent day at 4YA.
