It is reported after a ten days secret visit with the object of scuring reconciliation with critics of the Royal Family, that Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria left London by air bitterly disappointed by the King’s refusal to receive him. Extraordinary reticience was mainJ tained about the visit, but it is known that Prince Rupprecht was entertained by ditinguished members of society, and stayed at the Ritz Hotel, where he. was the guest of honour at a luncheon at which Field Marshal Robertson it is stated, had been present. Prince Rupprecht spent the weekend on a country visit of Oxford and AVindsor, joining tourists inspecting the State apartments at AVindsor Castle. He postponed liis departure hoping vainly for a summons to attend Buckingham Palace.

The “Sunday News” recalls Prince Rupprecht- in war time who described the English as “our most hatred enemies.” The Allies charged him with brutality and pillage, and accused lib" of being the first commander to use poison gas. He is now living in comparative poverty in a small wing at the Palace at Munich the remainder of which was converted into flats (
