FREEZING WORKS FIRE
AUCKLAND. February 11. The freezing chamber on the first floor ol the Auckland Fanners’ Freezing Company's six-storeyed building on the waterlront, was the scene of a tire this morning. The floor covering caught alight in an unknown manner hut was extinguished. Frederick Blucher, 19. with a number of other employees, deterred by the dense smoke trom descending the stairs, attempted to jump on to the adjacent, roofs. Bluc.her /crashed through to the floor below and injured his leg. Another employee. F. Taylor was locked in the burning freezing chamber, hut was released in time. it is stated that the butter am* cheese stores were undamaged.
