CYCLING SPORTS
ON CASS SQUARE, The two to three hundred who gathered in Cass Square last evening, were treated to an enjoyable hour’s sport. The Boy Scouts, under Scout Master Sutherland, gave an interesting display of signalling and First Aid. The cycle races were well contested, with good finishes in each race. A particularly noticeable breach of rules among cycle riders was the dangerous practice of looking round and was not confined to the beginners. The results were: Boy’s race, one mile:—lst. Breeze’s medal. .). Honey (10yds.) 1 ; C. Cook (10yds.) 2; J. Olsen (30yds.) 3.. Also started:—A. Adamson (ser), U. Stephens (50). M. ismythe (50), Jim Hewlett (30), W. Spence (100). Time 2.31. Won by 2 lengths. 5 mile open race:—lst. Geo. Sutuerland’s medal. S. Haviil (150yds.) 1; E. Olsen (300yds.) 2; E. Cook (200yds.) 3. Also started:—J. Haviil (100), A. Martin (300). C. Pfahlert (300), K. Hamilton (400), R. Little (550), R. Olsen (600), K. Hewlett (600), In a close finish S. Haviil held off a strong challenge by Olsen to win by .< a wheel. Cook 3 lengths away third, Time 11.34, HANDICAPS. . The following are the handicaps declared by Mr J. J.
