RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) MONDAY, FEBRUARY, 9. Two songs by Strickland, “At Eve I Heard a Flute” and “Ary Love is a Fisherman,” with Stanford’s “Soft Answer” and Quilter’s “Over AlounEdwards at 2YA this evening. Three contralto songs will be contributed by Mins Evelyn Robinson. Air Denis Sheard (tenor) late of the Humphrey Bishop Company, will also sing. Elocutionary items will lie given by Air W. J. Alountjoy, Jnr. A"n instrumental programme will be provided by the 2YA Ordiestrjiia, and, there will be a ten minutes’ relay of an organ recital to be given in the St. Gerard’s Redemptorifit Church by Air Henry ATount.
Another of the very popular open air band concerts featured by the Broadcasting Company in Christchurch tin’s summer, will he broadcasted by 3YA. It will be provided by the AVoolston Band and 3A T A artists—Miss Betty Simpson (soprano), Mr David Ale Gill (tenor), Air Clive Hindle (baritone) and Mr George Titchener Uiumorist). Bandsman R. Olilen will play a cornet solo.
A new vocalist in the person of Aliss G. AI. Parry, who has a rich con,'ralto voice, will npnenr on 4Y\’s nrocrnrnmo. She will present three well-known ballads—“ Out ol the Deep” “Open the Gates” and Beyond the Dawn.” The other vocalists on this programme are: Aliss Florence Sumner (soprano), Afr .Tack Clark Glass) and Air .Tames A. Paterson Scottish hm l ’- orist). The instrumental part of (fie programme will be in the bands of Air Arthur Gordon’s popular orchestra, and Airs C. Drake, pianiste. Silent day at IYA.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 10. Some well known singers and instrumentalists will, appear before lAA’s tnieropiione this evening. Mr Reg. Morgan will present a group of ballads, including two lisherlolk songs. Misses Edna and Phyllis T.ve will be heard in vocal and piano numbers, whilst tlie items bv .Miss Nellie Lingard (contralto) will include “The Songs my Mother Sang” and “Little Boy Blue.' Among the items by the Orchestra, under the direction of Mr IlaroLd Baxter, will be Myddleton’s “Irish Memories” and the suite “L’Arlesienne” (by Biset). Miss Phyllis Leighton (soprano) ana .Miss Norn Greene (contralto) will )>e the ladies’ voices heard from 2YA this evening. Miss Greene will sing “The Hills of Donegal,” “Ships” anu “My Ain Folk.” Mr Sam Duncan and Mr S. Evelyn Rodger will contribute solos and duets. Mrs H. G. Reeves, a ojever exponent of the banjo, will play several popular numbers. A light musical programme will be provided by the Salon Oeliestrina. ’[’be “piece de resistance” of 4V/» s programme, which will be prosen .ed by the Dunedin Tramways Band ur id the direction of Mr Clias. T. Morgan is a Scottish rhapsody entitled 1 c.rd of Che Isles.” Another selection is entitled “Sea Songs,” containing all the most popular ballads of the sea. Amongst the vocalists on this progrannne will be Mr Alex Snell (baritone). Mrs D. Carty will sing two Scottish songs and three fine ballads will be sung hr Airs Doris Aiteheson (contralto). Humorous recitations will be given by Miss E. Newbold. Silent day at OYA.
