The Savoy Male Quartet consisting of Mr Bert Skeels (male alto, late o! the Westminister Glee Singers), Mr Frank Campbell (tenor), Mr Arthur Gaily (baritone) and Mr Sid. Hislop (bass), will be heard in solos and quartets from IYA this evening. Miss Joyce Hould, late of Dunedin, will recite. Mr Eric Bell, player of piano classics, will be heard in two Chopin pieces. The Orchestral Octet will again delight listeners. The Wellington Artillery Band, under the conduetorship of Captain T. Herd, V.D. will give another of their excellent studio concerts at 2YA. The Ariel Singers, will contribute items. Featured on the programme will be Miss Lilian Frith (mezzo-so-prano), a visitor to Wellington. Sim recently appeared at 2F'C and 2BL Sydney.
BYA’s operatic—classical programme will include such favourites as Mendelssohn’s “Spring Song,” “Oh! Wert Thou in the Could Blast,” “Sink Red Sun,” “From Rushy Beds of Silver Nile,” “Lend me Your Aid.’’ “The Fimhantrcss,” “On with the Motley,” “Within those Sacred Bowers” and “Sainted Mother” (from Mnritana.”) Miss Thelma Cusack (violiniste), Mr A. F. Hutton (flautist) and the Studio Octet, will provide the instrumental portion of an attractive programme. Silent day at 4AA.
FRIDAY, FEBRUARY (»th. A. three-act play is scheduled for IYA this evening. The Little Play Club, who have so often delighted listeners with their artistic efforts, will under the direction of Mrs Zoe Bartley-Baxter, perform Beiser’s “Don.” The cast includes some of Auckland’s leading players and a very ent.rtaining evening is assured for all. 2YA’s variety programme will include selections l>y the Orchestrina. The Golden Hula Hawaiian Orchestri w.ll lie heard in a number of characteristic airs. Mr Dick Fletcher will provide bagpipe tunes and Mrs .Jcannie Potts (Scottish soprano) will sing “Coinin’ Thro’ the Rye,” “My Heart is Sail-,” and “We’d Better Bide a Wee.” Three baritone solos will be sung by Mr Harry Mitchell.
Excerpts from the musical play “Princess Caprice’’ will he featured on 3YA’s programme, the singers being the Melodious Quartet —Miss Frances Hamerton, Miss Milliccnt J(,u"ing.s. Mr Russell Sumner and Mr T. D. Williams. Humorous recitations will be given by Mr L. 'l'. .J. Ryan. On the instrumental side of the programme, a piano solo. “Brahms” “Cradle Song” will be played by Miss Aliceri Warren, and banjolin solos will lie contributed by Mr Stan. Birch. Harp soles will be played by Mr H. G. Glavsher. Various selections will be contributed by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. A new artist, Mr J. B. Flynn, a member of the Dunedin Shakespeare Club, makes his appearance at 4k A this evening. He is to recite extracts from Kipling and Ogilvie. Miss Winni" Collier (mezzo-soprano), Miss Gwcnda Burt (contralto), Mr R. A. Mitchell (tenor) and Mr F. Watts (bass) complete the vocal section ol this programme. A string orchestra of seven instrumentalists, under the director of Mr T. J. Kirk-Bunmnd. will present selections from “Rose Marie.” “The Student Prince,” ,r No. No Nanette” and “Pirouette.”
