WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 4th
The instrumental portion of lYA’s programme this evening, will be given by the Auckland Artillery Band playing under the baton of Air Wynne Smith. The remainder of the programme will be provided by Aladame Grace Griffiths and her concert party, a band of talented Auckland artists.
2YA’s programme, which will be the first of the regular Wednesday concerts since the deletion of the silent night at 2 A’A, will consist of specially recorded items selected from overseas programmes. Dr. Guy Scholefiehl, 0. 8.E., Parliamentary Librarian, will give a talk on an international topic.
Contributing to 3YA’s programme will Iks Miss Eveline Hill (soprano), Mrs I). W. Stallard (contralto) and Mr Sydney Armstrong (baritone) who will be heard in some popular numbers. Mr H. L. Shaw will recite and Mr Reg. Lamb will present humour in song. The instrumental portion ol the programme will !)e provided by the Studio Octet.
4YA’s popular studio trio will make its reappearance this evening after vacation, and two popular artists, Miss Anita Winked and Major Lampen are to present sketches. Opening this evening’s programme, which will be of a classical nature, will be a particularly fine orchestral recording of “Autumn” from “The Seasons Ballet” by Glazounov, the Russian composer.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY sth. The Savoy Male consisting of Mr Bert Skeels (male alto, late of the Westminister Glee Singers), Mr Frank Campbell (tenor), Air Arthur Gaily (baritone) and Air Mid. Hislop (bass), will be heard in solos and quartets from IA'A this evening. Afiss Joyce Hould, late, of Dunedin, will recite. Air Eric Bell, player of piano classics, will be heard in two Chopin pieces. The Orchestral Octet will again delight listeners. The Wellington Artillery Band, under the conductorship of Captain T. Herd, V.D. will give another of their excellent studio concerts at 2A r A. The Ariel Singers, will contribute items. Featured on the programme will be Miss Lilian Frith (mezzo-so-prano), a visitor to AVellington. Sim recently appeared at 2FC and 2BL Sydney. 3YA’s operatic—classical programme will include such favourites as Afendelssohn’s “Rnrin<i Mong,” “Oh! Wert Thou in the Canid Blast.” “Sink Red S-n,” “From Rusliv Beds of Silver Nile.” “Lend me Your Aid.’’ “The Enchantress,” “On with the Motley,” “Within those Sacred Bowers” and “Sainted Mother” (from Maritana.’O Miss Thelma Cusack (violinists). Alt A. F. Hutton (flautist) and the Studio Octet, will provide the instrumental portion of an attractive programme. Silent dnv at 4Y^.
