ABSCONDER’S BOND. (Jhj Telcyruph—Per Press Association) TIM Alt U, February 3. An order was made in the Supremo Court to-day for the ostreatment of a bond of £l5O in the ease of George Arthur King, who absconded from bail last year, after having been committed for trial on a charge of false pretences at Waimate. It-js believed that bondsman. Robert Grant Scott of Christchurch, will apply to the court for a 'reduction in the amount of surety. Alf,hough every attempt was made by the police to discover -the whereabouts of the accused, it is thought he„ has left the Dominion. The case was considered by the Court of Appeal which directed that the Supreme Court in Timarii should make an order for estreatment. The accused and his bondsman wore comrades in arms 'on the western front, Ymd Scott acted under n sense of obligation to accused, who it is said, saved the former’s life in an encounter with the enemy.
