STAFF DEDUCTION
DAIRY FACTORIES. '(By ' Telegraph —Per Press Association) KLTHAM, January 31. The fact that butter is selling at a premium compared with cheese may compel a number of Taranaki iactories hitherto manufacturing solely cheese to change over either wholly or in part to butter. This would entail the dismissal of a large number of v'lfeu !,t present employed in cheese factories. The Mangatoki factory has already decided to manufacture half cheese and half butter from next week. The staff accordingly has been reduced by eight men. •If the Kltham Dairy Company follow suit, which, they are contemplating, some forty men will be put off to swell the already crowded labour market.
