MAKE RAILWAY INSPECTION

GISBORNE, January 30

Fraser (Labour Member for Wellington Central) said was ”a disgraceful state of affairs" was disclosed to members of the Parliamentary Party who were yesterday inspecting Gisborne—Waiko. kopu railway line, which has now been stopped by the Government. The party, which was organised by Hon. K. S. Williams, comprised members of the Reform and Labour Parties, Air Williams explaining that no ’United member had been asked, as an invitation had been extended by the Railway Committee to the Minister, and he (Mr Williams) thought it only an act of courtesy, not to ask private members of the United Party. The party comprised:—Reform: Messrs S. Holland (Christchurch), Linklater, Kyle, McMillan. Dickie, ami Harris. Labour: Messrs Howard and Fraser. The party reached Wniroa at noon, and were met by Mr Williams and Mr Lysuar, M.’sp.. and a Railway Committee from Gisborne and entertained at lunch. The party then left on a
visit of inspection, along the whole route of the railway line, and arrived in Gisborne in the evening, after a most enjoyable day. This morning the party left for the East Coast as the guests of the Hon, K. 8. Willi.Tnis, returning to Gisborne on Saturday,
