RADIO PROGRAMME

The whole of the second half of 1 YA’s programme will consist of the presentation of a one-act play “Pros and Cons,” written by Kenneth Barnes. This will be produced by Mr J. W. Bailey and his company, in the first half of the programme, listeners can again look forward to some bright entertainment from Frank Wade and His Melody Boys, who will be giving vocal and instrumental items. Miss Sylvia Dobbs will he heard in several ballads.
The concert session at 2YA will he of a varied and interesting nature. A banjo quintet under the direction of Mr Jack Farrell will be new to listeners. The members of this combination are all vocalists as well and their numbers, accompanied by themselves, should be very attractive. Mr J. J. Standee will be heard in new pomdar songs at the piano, and Mr Will Vermont will entertain with bird and animal imitations. Miss Zona Jupp (eloeutioniste) will also contribute to this programme. The Orcltestrina, under Signor A. P. 'lnula, will play a number of selections. Concerted and solo numbers will be sung by the Valencia Quartet at 3\ A in the presenting of a variety programme. ’Cello solos will lie. played by Mr Harold Beck and humorous items will be contributed 'by Mr Geo. Titcbener. English concertina duets will be played by Then and Frances Gunther and there will I*> selections by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio.
A programme of old time dance tun s and old time melodies at 4\ A will be provided by Dir 0. D. Dagg s hand, which specialises in this type of entertainment. The assisting artists will he Miss T>. Sfigo (soprano), Mr H. Browse (tenor), Mr Frank Benfnn flv'ritone) and Mr J. Paterson (Scottish humorist).
S ATITR.T) AV, JANU AR V 31st. Items by the IYA Octet this owning will include a selection from “Thu Show Boat,” and the “Lightning Switch” (by Alford). Miss Bunty Stuart, a very fine contralto who has appeared several times at the Australian Broadcasting Stations and is not unknown in New Zealand, having toured hero professionally some time ago, will, be singing. Mr Gordon Johnson will give a group of novelty piano solos, and Miss Adclc 'laylor (soprano) and Mr Arthur Wright (bass-baritone) will be hoard in a number of well known ballads.
A programme of lmdi class vaudeville will ho presented by 2YA. 'Hie Salon Orchestra will contribute. Mr Haydock will play the violin solo “Czardas.” A sketch by H. E. Lucas entitled “Passengers” will he featured and listeners will he surprised and thrilled at the climax. Mrs R. Sserakowski (a soprano singer from 31 ') is on the programme. Mrs D. Murray (contralto) will sing three solos including the vocal version of Liszt’s “Liebestraum.” A group of novelty instrumental numbers will be played by Airs M. Kenny’s Mandolin Orchestra.
Mrs C. K. McDowall, a soprano of merit with many successes on the public concert platform to her credit, will make her first appearance at 3YA, singing songs from musical comedies, Mr E. A. Dowell, a popular baritone, will 'sing some old favourites. Miss Elaine Moody and he r Hawaiian Quartet will present some of the latest popular airs, with vocal refrains by ATiss Moody. Piano and violin improvisations will be contributed b> Messrs B. Goodland and D. Mitchell. Afiss Irene Alorris (violiniste) will play “Souvenir” and “Serenade” (by Pierne). Clarinet solos will be played by Afr S. E. Monday. There will he selections by the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio.
4YA\s variety programme will be contributed by Miss Evelyn .Shepai<l (soprano). Air E. W. Bobbins (tenor) and Air A. Snell (baritone). Miss Betty Garland (violiniste) will play Liszt’s “Liebestraum” and a popular programme will bo provided by a string orchestra.
