He ha.s achieved lame. Alany people have to plumb the depths of publicitv to win the place in the spotlight that All- Gibbons has attained after a few brief months in Parliament, because of his association with the release of credits plan known, by its short title, in Parliamentary language. as the Gibbons resolution.
Air Theodore is generally supposed to have inspired this new financial method of meeting the present crisis, but credit for it, rightly or wrongly, goes to Air Gibbons. His was the voice but that Air Theodore's was the hand is not denied either b.v Air Theodore or Air Gibbons.
Except in isolated eases party politics serves to efface the- individuality of politicians. They become merely parts of a well-oiled machine. Like the great majority of politicians, this young man who to-day looms so large in the public eye. lacks individuality. But, at file same time, there is nothing of the blatant demagogic type about him. Sturdily built, but of short stature, lie suggests something of the quiet, academic type behind his big, horn rimmed glasses. In tin's youthful-looking, fresh-complex ioned. young politician, some see the villain of the piece. Others see in him and in his famous resolution the salvation of Australia.
Time alone will show who is right. Not one person in ten thousand would know Air Gibbons if he sa"- Ipm at the Sydney headquarters of Federal members—the Commonwealth Bank—hut. by a dramatic political stroke, his name, unknown yesterday, is today known throughout the financial world.
