DISORDERLY SCENES. AT LABOUR COUNCIL MEETING. (]Jj 1 eleijroph Per Press A ssocini ioi i) SYDNEY, January 29. Disorderly scenes characterised the meeting ol the Labour Council when a ballot for officers was held. Feeding ran high and finally blows were exchanged between the Secretary. Mr Garden, and a prominent communist named Ryan. During the .se'uli'le another communist named Griffon was foiled. Although others received nasty bruises, nobody was seriously injured. DRASTIC ACTION. TAKEN BY SHEARERS. BRISBANE, January 29. Drastic action was taken by the 'striking shearers in the Surat- district. At three sheds employees were threatened by a crowd of angry strikers that they wopld he shot if they did not pack up their swags. Loyalists at two sheds walked off. but those at the third did not submit without a struggle.
Fifty strikers invaded huts at Alovundoo and ordered the workers to leave. In the fight following, the loyalists were roughly handled. Shots were fired, hut no one was hit. Two policemen were powerless to prevent the ejection of the loyalists.
