Several resolutions affecting wage reductions ana other economical problems were passed lor transmission to the Prime Minister and Mnosier oi Laoour. '.l ne conference reconsidered a percentage reduction to be applicable to all section of the community. A further resolution urged that a remedy would not lie found by increased taxation, but by a judicious curtailment of all State expenditure, and further that people simukl assist by refraining from urging the Government to spend state nionej on works not immediately necessary.
REQUEST FOR. SUBSIDY. DUNEDIN, January 28. At a special meeting of the Dunedin City Council this evening it was resolved to raise £SOOO for the rebel of unemployment, provided that the said sum was subsidised by the Unemployment Board on a *' or basis, for labour only, and that it such subsidy was not -approved by the Board, the resolution 'should lapse.
