.Ur .May, tne coroner, was inquiring into tue ueam of Alfred Eric Jorgenson aged .ji, fireman, who died m Balmain Hospital on January 3. Noel Leo Lai or, 10, a butcher’s assistant, gave evidence to the eilect that he was in a car with his mother when Jorgenson attacked her. “Jorgenson said to her, “If 11 cut your tnroat,” and he pulled her out of the car. He was punching her and pulling her about J pulled a stone from the wall and called out, ‘You leave my mother alone or I’ll throw this,’ X threw it, it hit him, and he fell.”
“He had assaulted mother before, and about nine months previously he attacked me and knocked me unconscious.” The city coroner found that Jorgenson died from injuries justifiably inflicted by Lalor while repelling a violent attack upon his mother. “The lud leaves the court without a stain upon his character,” lie commented. “1 am quite satisfied that he had no intention of taking Jorgenson’s lile. His mother was in danger, and he did what nine out of ten boys would tlo in the same circumstances. It would he wasting time and money lor me to send him for trial.”
