RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) TUESDAY, JANUARY 27th. The Song Cycle, “Woman’s Life and Love’’ Laotitia Parry (soprano) at IYA this evening. Mr Sutherland (bass-baritone) will sing numbers from “Lilac Time” and “The Rogue Song.’ A new instrumental combination, the “Whisker Instrumental Quartet,” will make a lirsb appearance at IYA. Consisting of four of Aueklands’ leading instrumentalists under the control ot Mr David Whisker, tho popular flautist, this quartet should prove most acceptable to listeners. The Salon. Orchestra will open 2YA’s programme this evening with the rendition of the overture “Racokzy” by Kela Bela. Mr Allan Shnnd will present popular novelty piano solos. Mrs Catherine Good son (soprano), Mr W. E. Crowes (baritone) and Mr F. H. W. Skinner (tenor), a new comer to radio, will be singing. Humour to be given by Mr C. P. McKenzie is entitled ‘.‘Casey Carries On,” a series oi war anecdotes. The St. Ivilda Band under Mr James Dixon will provide a. programme for 4YA. Miss D. Youd (soprano), Miss Irene Horniblow (contralto), Mr Geo. Crawford (tenor) and Mr Albert Parker (baritone) will contribute to the vocal portion of the entertainment. Silent day at 3YA.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28th. The Birkenhead Municipal Band, under the baton of Lieutenant J. T. Lighton, will provide a programme for IYA this evening. A euphonium j solo, “The Village Blacksmith,” will be played by Bandsman E. Hannah. The vocal portion of the programme will be provided by the New Zealand four, a quartet ot popular male singers who will he heard in solos, duet, i.nd quartettes. Jazz sougs at the piano by the Joyous Pair, sketches by The Mascots, contralto solos by Miss Kathleen Bond, cornet solos by Mr R. Oiilsen and selections by the Studio Octet, under Air Harold Beck, will comprise 3YA s popular concert. At 4?A, Song Cycle by Liza Lehmann, “More Daisies,” will 'be sung by the Harmonists, a quartet comprising Miss',Mae Matheson (soprano), Miss M. Green (contralto), Air H. A. Johnston (tenor) and Mr Stuart falconer . (baritone). The same vocalists will also contribute to the supporting programme. Instrumental items will he given by Mrs C. Drake (pmniste) and the trio (Misses Rita Holmes, Alofi’att and Judd). Silent day at 2) A.
