MAGISTRATE’S COURT

GREYMOUTH, Jan. 27

At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday charged with trespassing on the Omoto racecourse on December 31st, being a person excluded front the course- by the regulations under Section 33 of the Gaining Act, 1908, Leo. James McGowan. of Hobson, pleaded guilty. The S.M. said the fact that McGowan was ordered off, but did not go, made a- difference to the penalty. The regulations were very strict, and were made, no doubt with a view to securing tlie purity of racing. Defendant would be fined 10s with 10s costs.

That, on January 24th, at Greymouth, he assaulted George Long, was the charge to which William Hector Lake, 27, pleaded guilty.
