MONDAY, JANUARY 26th
IYA will this evening be broadcasting a ringside description of H. Johns—Hector Leckie championship boxing match. Mr Denis Sheard (tenor) who lias just completed two years’ engagement with the Humphrey Bishop Company and has broadcast extensively in Australia, will lie introduced to 2YA listeners this evening. Mr H. Temple White will be heard in organ solos. Mr Clement May (eloentioniste), Miss Hilda Chudlev (contralto) and Mr Ernest Short (baritone) will contribute v.ocal items. The 2YA Orchestrina, under Signor A. P. Truda, will supply incidental music.
The programme to be presented by Derry’s Military Band and broadcast by 3YA this evening, will be another of the very popular open air concerts which ate marking the summer months in Christchurch. Xylophone solos will he contributed by Bandsman E. Sheldon. Solos will be sung by Mrs Jean Scrimshaw (soprano), Miss G. L. Shrubshnll (mezzo-contralto) and Mr Sydney Wood (bass). Mr Jack Blair’s items will be songs at the piano and humorous recitations will lie given by Mr Jack Darragl*. Mr CHiesliyn O’Connor will sing cabaret songs and banjolin items will be contributed by Air Arthur Hodgson. Introduced into the programme too, will be mouth organ solos by Mr J. Woodham. In these numbers listeners can expect something of a revelation.
The vocalists on 4YA’s programme, which will he of the popular type, will he Miss Olga E Wynne (soprano). Mrs A. H. Ritchie (contralto) and Mill,. B. MacDonald (bass-baritone) with Miss Ngatn. Buswell (eloentioniste). On the instrumental side of the programme, trios will be plaved by Misses Rita Holmes, Moffat and Judd. Piano solos will lie provided bv Mrs C Drake.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 27th. The Song Cycle, “Woman’s Life and Love’’ Lu/etitia Parry (soprano) at IYA this evening. Mr Sutherland (bass-baritone) will sing numbers from “Lilac Time’’ and “The Rogue Song.” A new instrumental combination, the. “Whisker Instrumental Quartet,” will make a first appearance, at IYA. Consisting of four of Aucklands’ lending instrumentalists under the control ol Mr David Whisker, the popular flautist, this quartet should prove most acceptable to listeners. The Salon Orchestra will open 2YA’s programme this evening with the rendition of the overture “Racokzy” by Kela Bela. Mr Allan Shand will present popular novelty piano solos. Mrs Catherine Goodson (soprano), Air AV. E. Crewes (baritone) and Mr F. H. AV. Skinner (tenor) } a new comer to radio, will He singing. Humour to be given by -Mr 0. P.' AfcKenzie is entitled “Casey Carries On,” a series of
war anecdotes. ,The fit. Kilda Band under Mr James Dixon will provide a programme for 4YA. Miss D. Youd (soprano), Miss Irene Horniblow (contralto), Mr Geo. Crawford (tenor) and Mr Albert Parker (baritone) will contribute to the vocal portion of tbe entertainment. Silent day at 3YA.
