Court proceedings against five men revealed that a spectacle case and pencil in the left lircast pocket saved the life of a planter, Caiithiv, who after being shot bv robbers, staggered a mile in the darkness from the estate to a bungalow, accompanied by his wife. They lost nearly a thousand sterling. The spectacle case and pencil were riddled with pellets.
