“The> '.rime’s” Rome correspondent states: The spectacular career ol Commendatory Riccardo Gualino, the international financier, and one of Italy’s biggest business men. has ended with his arrest on ail undisclosed ciiurge, but it is attributed to the grave situation of the Banca Agricola, which was the instrument oi his speculations. Gualino pioneered the artificial silk industry. He led the life of a grand seigneur. H e had a magnificent picture gallery } and owned a Moorish castle in the Riviera, a stud of racehorses, having purchased famous thoroughbreds in England. Hs also bought newspapers. Gualino’s connection with the Oustriee Bank affair in Paris wap revealed during the Paris inquiry.
