Tavo unusual incidents occurred on bowling greens in Auckland during the progress of the New ear tournaments. At °St. Heliers, a Ponsonby player was bending down to nick Tip bis bon 1. bnt did not notice bis partner's backward swing ns n preliminary to delivering hi.s bowl. As n result, he received a vigorous blow with a hea\\ bowl, and was partially stunned for several minutes. Curiously enough, his first howl on resumption was a toucher right on the jack, but his seco’-d was wide. In another game a player had been carrying an umbrella, and after a shower folded it and placed it behind him while he directed play. A fast drive by an opposing player struck the umbrella and jumped over nMbnnk and hit another player on the leg. The last-named player was out of action for over an hour, and might easily have suffered seriously.
