GENEVA RESOLUTIONS

GENEVA, January 21
Tlie League of Nations committee discussing the scheme for a European union has unanimously passed a resolution. proposed bv France, Britain, Italy and Germany, declaring that in view of the European political difficulties. which are accentuated by economic instability, due to world wide depression and also to widespread anxiety that is increased by irresponsible talk concerning the possibility ol war. which is hindering an economic recovery. the best service we can render to improve the economic position is to give a firm assurance of European peace. YVe therefore, as responsible representatives of European states declare that we are resolutely determined to use the League ol Nations machinery to prevent any resort to violence.
The committee has also passed a resolution declaring tlie necessity for remedying tlie agricultural situations and for not waiting until the Rome Wheat Conference is held ; consequently an early ’meeting of the countries concerned to find a means ol disposing of tlie grain surplus, it being empowered to implement its decision without reference to others. ’l’lie committee hoped that the exporting countries would participate in this conference. Other resolutions passed demanded means for disposing of any future harvest, surpluses and a detailed scheme for agricultural credit.
