ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. BIG DROP IN PRICES. (By Telegraph—Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, January 21. Prices sTiowed the biggest break for many a day at to-day’s Addington live stock sale. On fat cattle there was a drop of 40s a head. Sheep were selling very cheaply indeed.
Fat cattle.—Then- was a large yarding of fat cattle, there being many unfinished lots. There was an average decline of £2 per head. Plain sorts were hard to quit. Extra heavy steers sold to £ls 7s Oil. prime £.lO 10s to £l2, medium £0 I.os to £8 os ; others from £o os. Rest heavy cows sold to £lO 7s Od, prune £5 P's to £7 os. medium £4 to C \ plain from .£2 10s. Best heifers sold to £ll 7s Od prime £7 15s to £S 10s medium £4 15s to £0 10s, plain from £3 10s. Fat sheep.—There was a dull market: for fat sheep. There was a large yarding. Rest wethers sold from 14s to 17s, medium 10s to 13s. plain from 8: best ewes from Os to 12s, medium os to Bs, plain from 2s Od. Fat sheep.—There was a dull market for fat sheep. There was a large yarding. Rest wethers sold from 14s to 17s medium 10s to 13s. plain from 8s ; host ewes from 9s to 12s. medium j os to Bs. plain from 2s od. j Fat lambs.—Then- was a large yarding of fat lambs, and a firm de- j maud for best quality. Light sorts were easier. Extra heavy prime lambs sold to 19s Id. prime los (id to 17s. medium 13s to los. light from 10s 60.
Store sheep.—There was smaller yarding, but competition was dull. Rest lambs sold Bs, culls from 3s 4d ; best four tooth Romney ewes 14s 3d; four tooth halfbred ewes to 10s 9; failing mouth ewes from Is 7d : medium farmers’ ewes from 3s (Id; wethers Is to os 9d. Fat pigs.—There was a smaller yarding of fat pigs. Values declined.
