SOUTHERN CROSS JUNIOR

AGAIN IN THE AIR,

BLENHEIM, January 21

Guy Menzies arrived here at 4.45 o’clock solo in the Southern Cross Junior.

He -was escorted by two Christchurch and two Blenheim moths. He received a rousing welcome lrom a large crowd at the aerodrome, and an official welcome from the Mayor and Mr A. A. Mac Nab, President of the Marlborough Aero Club. He was entertained this evening at dinner. He is leaving for Wellington in the morning.

WIGRAM SQUADRON FLIGHT.

WELLINGTON, ■ January 21

The third of a series of squadron flights, organised to replace the refresh courses at Wirgam Aerodrome is to he held at the end of this week. The flight, which will be carried out by Squadron No. 2 oi the New Zealand Air Force, will be under the command of Squadron Leader M. C. McGregor, D.FiC.. Air Force pilots from Wellington, Taranaki and Wairarapa districts will participate in the flight. Six aeroplanes'wiMlleave .Blenheim on Friday and fly in formation to Auckland, via Hawera.- Saturday and Sunday ■ will be spent in Auckland, and the aeroplanes will start on the return trip on Monday. In all probability the members of the squadron will compete at the Auckland Aero Club’s pageant on Saturday. Four of the aeroplanes are Government Moths on loan to aero clubs, and the other two belong to the Wigram Aerodrome. Flight Lieutenant M. W. Buckley will be adjutant during the flight.

IMPERIAL AIRWAY SERVICE. LONDON, January 20. The tlnder-Secrefary for Air, Mr Montague, stated in the House of Commons the proposals ol the Imperial Airways Ltd., for the extension of its Service between England and India to Australia. These, after examination will be forwarded to the Governments in Australia, India and the Straits Settlement for consideration. BRITISH AIR MINISTRY. LONDON, January 20. Sir Walter Nicholson, who hitherto lias been Secretary to tlie Air Ministry becomes the Government Director of the Imperial Airways. The appointment of Mr C. L. Bullock as his successor at the Air Ministry took effect from to-day.
