RADIO PROGRAMME

MONDAY, JANUARY 19th

2YA has a special attraction for this evening. A radio version of R. L. Stevenson’s “Treasure Island” will be presented. It is a tale of pirates and their buried treasure. The cast includes some of Wellington’s leading artists and under the skilful direction of Mr J. F. Montague, of Auckland, the radio presentation should prove most thrilling and enjoyable. Continuing the series of open air concerts arranged by the Broadcasting Company for the summer months, the Woolston Band under Mr R. J. Estali, will provide this evening’s programme. 3YA artists will assist.

The Novelty Syncopaters, playing popular melodies, will be featured on 4YA’s programme. Mr J. McCaw (saxophone) land Mr J. Wills (comet), both members of the band, will contribute items. Miss Lettie do Clifford will sing three .soprano soios. Miss Betty Hamilton will present contralto songs, Mr J. E. Davies tenor songs and Mr N. C. Gamble, baritone solos. Mis Anita Bowler will recite. Silent day at IYA.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 20th

The vocalists at IYA this evening will be Madame diary Towsey an* Mr John Brea, who will be singing several soles and duets. The Orchestral Octet, under the dnection of Air Harold Baxter, will provide the instrumental portion of the programme and will include in their items, the suite "As You Like it” by Roger Quilter. Mr A. 15. Cnappcdl will give a- further Topical talk. Dance music will follow, until 11 p.m.

'the reception home, which is to be accorded the Right Hon. G. W, Forbes and the members of the New Zealand Delegation to the Imperial Conference, will he broadcast by ‘2\A and JYA. 'Liie function will take place in the Town Hall. Musical items will intersperse the speeches. A “Burns Night” is scheduled loi JYA when a special programme will be presented by the Dunedin Hjghland pipe Band under Ripe Major MacMillan.
