LONDON, January 17. At Twickenham, sixty thousand spectators saw an amazing linisn to the international Rugby match. England versus Wales. With the score G to 3 in l'avonr ol Wales at the end of the first half, Boon (Wales) took the- longest throw in, aiming at a loose Welshman. He miscalculated, however, and the Hu 11 Fell into the bands of Barland. who scored a try for England, which was converted, giving England the lead by 8 to 6.
There was no further score until three minutes before the close of the game, when Mbrley burst- through the English defence, and scored. Bassett, the Welsh captain converted the- try, making the score 1 I to 8 in favour of Wales. It then seemed a thousand to one in support of the first Welsh win at Twickenham, and the spectators began to pour out of the ground, hut ten seconds before the final whistle. Black, a South African Rhodes scholar, took a long shot free kick, and registered a goal, thus equalising the scores;— Wales 11, Britain 11.
EXTREME WELSH PRECAUTIONS
LONDON, January 17
The Cricket Board of Control will find some, relief from criticism ol its restriction on test players in England in the rules and regulations of the Welsh Rugby team which arrived in London to play England at Twickenham. Tile team were housed in a hotel near the ground, and wore not permitted to attend the biannual smoking concert to-night. Instructions had been issued that every man must be in bed at- eleven o’clock. They were provided with hot water 1 Kittles, and there had to be no noise in the corridors.
