BOXING

HEENEY’S BAD DUCK

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright 1

NEW YORK, , January 16. Max Baer, of California, is credited with a knockout over Torn Heeney, in the third round. Heonev, however, was casually listening to Jack Dempsey’s count after being pushed thiough the ropes. He yas- declared, knocked out by Dempsey. All of the sporting writers, who encouragingly pushed Tom back, agree that he was far from taking the count. In fact, they state, he was hard as a rock, and he had led easily in the first two rounds. Heeney was preparing to resume "boxing when the timekeeper, Mr D*'.yovan, and Jack Dempsey told him that the fight was over. Tom said: “I am not hurt,” and he looked disappointed. It is generally agreed that Heeney could have got back in plenty, of time, but he was listening comfortably to Dempsey’s count.
